I think the reason why Venus was only seen in one TMNT show incarnation was because fans saw her as a "Scrappy Doo" sort of character who had "ruined" the show, but personally I had liked Venus . I think adding a female turtle to the mix had added alot to the group chemistry/dynamic & overall show. Her character also gave April someone to have girltalk/female bonding moments with . The only thing that I would've changed about Venus was her TMNT color. I would've made her TMNT color pink rather than blue, so that people don't get her mixed up with Leonardo or think that Leonardo got a sex change.
eh hers was supposed to be cyan, pink i think would sort of take away from her strong character with a cliche' i would have honestly used light yellow if it was up to me but everyone seems to use black because of her cameo in tmnt
I really enjoyed her as a character.
I think the problem with the series that she was introduced in was that the acting itself was too woody woodpecker and it imploded. Unfortunately, she was an easy scape goat.
They made her annoying..tried to make her all "girl power" and such which is kinda cliché and irritating. Im a chick and I still didn't like the feminist crap. If they'd spent more time and effort into developing her with subtlety, it might not have turned off the majority of the TMNT fanbase and more people might have accepted her. I still wish there were more female characters that didn't act like they are too cool for school or have something to prove. Oh well, live and learn.
I don't think it was the girl power aspect that really was against her, I thought it was more the whole naive culture clash attitude she was stuck with.
Look wise, I thought she really looked great. She was more into the meditative, spiritual, and mental aspects of the show and I thought there was some great potential in it.
But granted, in any show that is male dominated the women seem to have to repeatedly have to "prove" themselves.
